Habitat Angel and the Extreme Martin Makeover

Most peole are aware of Habitat for Humanity and the great work they do building homes for deserving low income families.  But what about the disadvantaged homeowner who already has a home but is unable to maintain that home in a reasonable condition? That is where Habitat Angel comes in. Habitat Angel is a faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to loving God and demonstrating love to others through action.  Each year in the spring, Habitat Angel, along with Keep Martin Beautiful ,selects a Martin County neighborhood in need of restoration.   The annual selection is based on strong relationships already established within the community, a number of homesteaded homes in need of restoration and the commitment of community members to support and work side by side with Habitat Angel and its volunteers.  In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, local churchs, organization and businesses, Habitat Angel then selects 20 to 30 homes in the choosen neighborhood and over the course of several weeks repairs, cleans, and paints the exteriour of the homes and completes a neighborhood trash clean up.  Past neighborhood projects have occured in East Stuart, Indiantown and Port Salerno.  If you are interested in volunteering for the next project or to find out more information about their mission and vision, visit their website
